Ben Stokes: England's Test captain Ben Stokes .. Whoever is in the head coach race!

Ben Stokes: It is known that Joe Root said goodbye to the England captaincy at a time when criticism was pouring in in the wake of a series of defeats. Demands have been made to hunt him down after his defeat on the West Indies tour starting with the prestigious Ashes series against Australia. In the process, he announced his resignation from the captaincy.

It looks like the star all-rounder and vice-captain Ben Stokes will take over this order. Stokes is reported to have agreed to take over the Test captaincy after a meeting with the new managing director of the England and Wales Cricket Board, Robbie Kay.

An official announcement is likely to be made after the completion of the paperwork on the appointment. According to the Telegraph, Robbie will hold a press conference on Thursday to reveal this.

Meanwhile, Rob Key seems to be considering appointing either South African giant Gary Kirsten or former Australia coach Simon Katich as England's head coach. However, due to mental anxieties, the team has known something far away for years. He made his re-entry through the Ashes series and joined the West Indies in the series. During the second Test against the Windies, he became the fifth all-rounder to complete 5,000 runs in Tests and take more than 150 wickets.
