Danger Bells in Delhi...

New Delhi: IIT Madras has forecast R-value to cross 2.1 this week amid rising corona cases in the national capital. Nationally it is only 1.3. The details were revealed by Prof. Nilesh Upadhyay and Prof. S. Sundar, Heads of Departments, Department of Mathematics, Center of Excellence for Computational Mathematics and Data Science, IIT Madras. With the R-value reaching 2.1, it would be too early to predict the start of the fourth wave in Delhi.

‘Currently, only R-value can indicate that the virus is transmitted from one corona victim to two. Immunity levels in the public need to know whether those infected with the virus during the Third Wave in January will become infected again. That is why it takes some time to estimate the spread. ' He said the severity of the outbreak was unpredictable as a small number of cases were coming to light in Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. The latest case out of 1,042 corona cases in Delhi was a passivity rate of 4.64%.

2,527 new cases in the country

With 2,527 new corona cases being reported in the country in a single day, the total number of cases registered so far has risen to 4,30,54,952, the Center said on Saturday.
