Demolition of ancient temple in Rajasthan ... BJP angry with government

In Rajasthan, temples and shops were bulldozed and houses were cleared for road access. However, the 300-year-old temple was demolished. With that, another controversy came to the fore. The BJP was outraged.

The series of demolition of buildings in the country continues. The demolition of illegal structures with bulldozers has already become controversial in UP, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Delhi. Meanwhile, several structures were demolished in Rajasthan on Friday. A 300-year-old Shiva temple, 86 shops, and houses were demolished with bulldozers in the Alwar district and the road was cleared for road access. The demolition appears to have been carried out as part of the city development master plan.

However, the demolition of three-hundred-year-old temples here led to another controversy. Two other temples, including the 300-year-old Shiva temple in the Sarai Mohalla area, were bulldozed. Hindu communities and locals were outraged. A complaint was also lodged at the Rajgarh police station. BJP leaders were also incensed over the demolition of temples. He said a committee was also being appointed for verification.

Moreover, Congress alleges that the municipal council in the BJP-controlled town of Rajgarh decided in September last year to clear the encroachments and build a road. The Congress says the Rajgarh Municipal Council has 35 members, 34 of whom belong to the BJP. It was the first Congress-ruled state to be embroiled in a controversy over demolition.
