The most special .. If any disaster .. It's take the light!

Organisms cannot survive for a few days without water and food. Without air, they cannot survive for a few minutes. But it is a kind of creature that does not look right to the eye... They live for years without water and food. Away Tardigrades. Also known as 'water bears' because they look like bears. What are living things and what are their peculiarities?

And the turtles .. these are the bears

Water bears are the hardiest of all living things on earth. They were found in the water in 1777 by the German scientist Johann Ephraim Goz. Named the "Tardigrades" because they move slowly like turtles. The body resembles a bear and is called a 'water bear'. These animals have movable heads, mouths, and eight legs. Size averages only one millimeter. But there may be more than 40,000 cells. There are an estimated 1,300 species of water bears on Earth.

30 years without water...

Usually, without water .. humans can only live for three days. Camels live up to 15 days. But scientists have found that water bears can live without water for up to 30 years.

Lack of water and extreme temperatures can cause tardigrades to turn into ‘anhydrobiosis’. That is, they round their body into a ball. A tight shield is formed on top. At the same time, a special protein like glass (glans matrix) replaces the water in the cells inside. The glass matrix protects parts of cells, DNA, other proteins, and membranes from damage. This whole process is called 'ton state'. As soon as the situation changes favorably .. Tardigrades will return to normal.

That category .. Separate!

Tardigrades are included in the category of 'Extremophiles', the most unique of terrestrial organisms. This means that it can withstand the harshest of conditions, such as freezing cold, extreme temperatures, extreme radiation, high pressure, and vacuum in space.

Can withstand bullets

University of Kent scientists have found that Tardigrades can survive being shot with a gun. They subjected the Tardigrades to extreme cold, and when they reached the "ton" condition, they aimed their bullets at the front and fired shots at different distances. With some of the bullets surviving the Tardigrades .. it was decided how much pressure they could withstand. The Tardigrades were found to be able to withstand speeds of up to 3,000 kilometers per hour.

If the disaster comes...

  • Scientists estimate that Tardigrades existed on Earth about 60 billion years ago. That means dinosaurs were not even born then.
  • Tardigrades can withstand temperatures in excess of 150 degrees Celsius. Boil water at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius. This means that they can survive in boiling water.
  • We tremble a little chilly. The same tardigrades can withstand temperatures as low as minus 200 degrees Celsius and live for over 30 years.
  • They live for years in the "ton state" without oxygen. They can withstand vacuum and intense radiation in space.
  • Being such a ‘tough’ creature... Scientists say that they can survive if the earth is flooded.

There is a Weakness!

The film is about tardigrades that can withstand many harsh conditions. Scientists who have recently done research on this .. have found that only 34% of the tardigrades immersed in the slime survive.
