The boat is expected to sink due to strong winds on Saturday afternoon off the Shiretoko Peninsula off the northern island of Hokkaido. He said the accident could have happened as soon as the waves were blowing heavily.
The Japan Coast Guard says a boat carrying 26 tourists has capsized off the northern Japanese coast of Sheritiko. The Coast Guard said the boat lost contact around 1.15pm on Saturday, Japan time. Four patrol boats along with four helicopters were deployed to locate the boat but to no avail. Two of the 26 people on board were crew and the rest were tourists. Two of them are reported to be minors.
The fact that no one has been located so far is a matter of grave concern. Fishing boats also returned due to inclement weather. However, Kazu-1 lost contact. On the other hand, a boat also crashed in Lebanon. A boat carrying migrants capsized, leaving 60 people dead and 45 rescued in rescue operations. The whereabouts of the others are yet to be ascertained, according to media reports.
