April Auto Sales: Declining car sales!

Mumbai: The auto industry is reeling from undersupply problems. As a result, production fell and carmakers' April sales plummeted. Wholesale sales of cars, especially the iconic companies Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, fell sharply.

However, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar, and Skoda Auto saw better sales growth last month. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,32,248 units, down seven percent from April last year. The company said in a statement that the shortage of electronic spare parts had affected vehicle production.

Hyundai also sold 44,001 units in the month under review, down ten percent. Honda Cars Company sales fell 13% in April to 7,874 units. Yuchi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda, said, "Despite the demand from consumers, the supply problem is serious and sales have slowed down."
