The first case of monkey pox virus has been reported in America. The U.S. Infectious Diseases Organization CDC confirmed this on Thursday. Doctors have diagnosed a man in Massachusetts with the virus. The victim was recently identified as having traveled to Canada. The infected man is being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital. Authorities are busy identifying his contact. Dozens of cases of the virus have been reported in the Canadian province of Quebec.
Infection with the monkeypox virus begins with flu-like symptoms. Looks like fever, aches and pains, scars on the body. It is known that monkey pox is spreading in many countries in Europe. The first case was reported in Europe on May 6, bringing the total number of victims to nine. UK Health Security Agency officials say monkeypox victims have similar symptoms to smallpox.
