US Supreme Court rules on abortion law

WASHINGTON: Concerns are mounting in the United States over abortion rights. Protests erupted across the country following the leak of the draft Supreme Court judgment. Protesters surround the Supreme Court building in Washington DC. They chanted slogans as if their rights were not being violated.

What is in the leaked draft...

The leaked draft states that Justice Samuel Alito is overturning a landmark judgment in the 1973 Row v. Wade case on abortion rights. Justice Alito thought that the interpretation given in the Roe vs. Wade case was too weak and that its consequences were alarming. Criticisms are being leveled at the leaked document that the verdict given by the judges is not correct.

Neither the Supreme Court nor the White House has so far responded to the leaked information on the verdict on abortion rights. The draft seems to have expressed the view that the elected representatives should be allowed to take key decisions in this regard. On Monday, some protested in front of the Supreme Court. With this, the concerns reached the level of Tara. The U.S. Supreme Court is due to issue a final ruling on abortion rights in July.
