Self-driving taxi services in China
The world's first self-driving taxi service will be launched in China. Toyota's promoting company Pony.AI has been licensed to operate 100 robotic taxis in the Nansha area of Guangzhou. Internet giant Baidu has also obtained a license from Pony.AI to offer services in Beijing as well.

Pony.AI was approved in November 2021 for testing 67 autonomous (driverless) vehicles in Beijing. Has completed 7,00,000 trips since April this year. The company says 80 percent of riders are not old customers. The company hopes to launch Robo taxi services in first-tier cities in China from next year, as well as in other parts of Guangzhou. At present this autonomous vehicle also has a driver. Both the companies will be providing driverless services in the coming days. Pony.AI Company of California was founded in 2016 by James Hung and Tincheng Loh.
